Our Leaf & Debris Pool Cover is made of woven polymer fabric. The fabric is specially formulated for pool cover use and is stabilized against the damaging effects of Chlorine and Ultra Violet light. Our mesh covers are extremely durable and carry a 5 year pro-rata warranty.
Mesh covers are often referred to as leaf covers and they will certainly solve even the most extreme leaf problem. They can be fitted around rocks, waterfalls and other features.
The cover is extremely light weight (10kg average). It is very easy to fit and remove, even by one person, and comes with it's own carry bag.
During fitting and removal the cover floats on the surface of the water. It is secured by straps to the pool surround into flush stainless steel anchors (pictured below). The straps are about 1 metre apart. The cover is tensioned by pulling the straps tight after fitting.
A Leaf Cover does not collect rainwater.

This type of cover is not rated as child safe and does not allow total pool shutdown. Dust and other small particles will still enter the pool through the mesh so some filtration is still required. Rain-water entering the pool needs to be pumped out to maintain optimum level and this process will also dilute pool chemicals.
The principle behind the Leaf Cover is to keep leaves & debris dry and in suspension above the water. This should be achieved with the pool filled to it's normal operating level about half way up the skimmer. Because the leaves and debris are not contacting the water they will mostly blow off in the wind. If necessary this process can be assisted using a broom or garden blower.
The running time of the filter can be reduced substantially because far less dirt is able to enter the pool through the tightly woven mesh. The pool will also use less chemicals because there will be less particle matter to absorb the chlorine and less sunlight to bleach it out.
Leaf Covers reduce a considerable amount of evaporation because they protect the water from any surface wind. They are Smart Watermark Approved and qualify for Government water rebates in Queensland & Western Australia.
We especially recommend the Leaf Cover for large pools because it is both effective and extremely light-weight.
