Solar blankets look like bubble wrap and float freely on the top of a pool without tie-downs or anchors to hold them in place. The sun's rays are focussed through the bubbles to heat the water during the day.
Evaporation is not only a waste of precious water. It is the major cause of heat loss from your pool. Heat is also lost by radiation to the atmosphere which happens mostly at night. Solar Blankets reduce evaporation by 95%. They also reduce radiation considerably by insulating the water surface from the cold night air. The result is a 5 - 10 degree increase in your pool temperature and a water saving of up to 10 000 litres per year!
Solar Blankets are normally supplied with a roller system for ease of removal, easy storage and proper care of your cover. Rollers are often supplied with castors so the cover can simply be wheeled out of the way.
It is important to remember that, although any cover will reduce some of the debris that enters a pool, solar pool covers are not designed specifically for cleanliness, nor are they child safe. Solar pool covers must be completely removed from the pool before swimmers enter the water. Where improved safety is required, a Pool Safety Net can be installed over the top of a Solar Blanket.
Durability
We recommend Suncap 400 material for it's ease of use and durability. Suncap 400 is warranted for a period of 5 years from installation. Service life will vary depending upon your situation but may be in excess of 10 years. Please speak to our consultant for further details and the options available.
Solar Blanket Reels
We stock a wide range of reels for in-ground and above ground installations. You have a choice of fixed or adjustable, mobile or stationery. The shaft is available in 75mm or 100mm aluminium.
Adjustable rollers are normally only used to compensate for a stepped or uneven pool surround.
Installation
We provide a full measure and installation service in the greater Sydney area. Alternatively there are savings to be made by installing the blanket yourself. The cover is simply laid over the pool and cut to shape with a pair of scissors. The roller is then assembled and attached to the cover.

Suncap 500 Blue/Silver is the premium product for heated pools. The cover is blue on top so it's pleasing to the eye, yet the underside is silver to reflect the maximum heat back into your pool. Thousands of sealed air bubbles trap the air to act as an insulator against radiation. This 500 micron cover is warranted for 8 years.
